September 26, 2007 PFS Board meeting minutes

Present: Ray Ashmun, John Kellermann, Susan Carter, Kay Peters and Rob Hoffman.

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at the home of Ray Ashmun. Minutes of the August 2007 meeting were approved.

Committee Reports:
Concert: Ray reported that we lost ~$20 -$30 on the last concert.
Membership: John Kellermann reported that we got 4 renewals and 1 new member. The last several new members were from Vancouver.
Treasurer: No report.Gil was absent. Ray reminded us to send all receipts and checks to Gil.
Publicity: Michael wrote an article for the Southeast Examiner newspaper. John Kellermann said that he provided links to upcoming performers websites.
Newsletter: Irja sent word that the Newsletter will be out on Friday
Calendar: David sent word that the calendar has been sent.
Web & Database: Kellermann said that they were updated. He said that John Keys had requested music on the website. Kellermann added 2 new business members.
Events: No report.
President’s update: Keys sent posters for the FAR West Folk Alliance concert. He needs help in distributing them. Jane Keefer will publish an article in Local Lore about the Folk Music Library. PFS is providing a bus from Vancouver for FAR West attendees to come to the PFS FAR West concert. The cost, using Laidlaw was $167 for 47 people.

Old Business: We still need a Volunteer Coordinator.

Gil was not here to report about the costs of polishing cloths.

Ray said that he would contact Dick Weissman to see if PFS volunteers would be needed for the FAR West conference.

New Business: Susan gave an update on her visit to Mary Benson. She is glad to see members of the folk community and members are encouraged to visit.

There are 4 board positions which will expire in December: Kellermann, Kearsey, Carter and Keys.Three will be continuing:Hoffman, Ashmun and Gunderson.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 28, location TBA.
