Singtime Frolics

26thAnnual Singtime Frolics March 26-28, 2010

Singtime Frolics is Portland FolkMusic Society's annual weekend music retreat. Join us deep in the woods at beautiful Camp Adams (near Molalla, a half-hour south of Portland). We do music together, rest and catch up with each other’s lives, learn teach and share. Begin on Friday evening; end, sleepy-eyed, in the early afternoon on Sunday; remember for the rest of the year.

This year's Guest Artists will be Steve Einhorn and Kate Power, performers and songwriters.

Coming of age in Washington Square and the folk scene of the 60's in Greenwich Village, Kate Power and Steve Einhorn were both young players who grew into cornerstone players in the Pacific Northwest folk scene and in 1994, happened to fall in love.

Parallel roots of inspiration from the folk legends of their generation, Kate and Steve have been making beautiful music ever since. Their harmony has contributed to building community in Portland, Oregon through their songs, folk music shop, school and concert hall at Artichoke Music (1981-2006) and collaborative efforts with countless organizations to promote a better world through folk music.

Kate and Steve will present two popular workshops:

The weekend includes vocal and instrumental workshops, song circles, dancing, maybe a little poetry, and a participants’ evening concert, open to all. You can learn something about singing, or playing, or songwriting. You can bring songs or tunes to play for us. You can organize a workshop. You can explore a kind of music you haven’t paid attention to before. There will be space and time for instrumental jamming and for hiking forest trails around the camp (bring boots, March can be wet).
